Annual Picnic Weekend

Join High Country River Rafters for our annual picnic on the Upper Colorado River - a weekend of boating, potluck dinner, raffle and lots of fun!

Friday, August 14th

• Camping is reserved for both Friday and Saturday nights, so feel free to come up early (and stay late). Although there are no official boating plans on Friday, several members often boat this day.

Saturday, August 15th

• 8:00 AM | Rigging: Inflate rafts, duckies, and put boats in the water.

• 9:00 AM | Orientation & Shuttle: Meet at the HCRR tent to break out into groups running from Pumphouse to Radium and Pumphouse to Rancho del Rio. Please have your boat rigged and ready to launch prior to 9am. Drive vehicles to the takeout, leave vehicles, and drive several "shuttle" vehicles back to the put-in (about 30 minutes round trip).

• 5:00 PM | Regroup: Meet back at the HCRR tent for festivities. 

• 6:00 PM | Potluck: HCRR will be providing burgers and brats, but we ask that everyone bring a side dish to share for the Saturday potluck-style dinner. Please remember to bring any serving utensils for your side dish. 

• 7:00 PM | Raffle: Purchase raffle tickets and raffle!

• 8:30 PM | Clean-up: Clean up food and trash. We wouldn't want 4-legged visitors during the night picking up our leftovers.
  
  

Sunday, August 16th

Although there are no official plans, some members stick around for another run this day. In either case, our camping checkout time is 12:00pm. If you plan on camping another night, you can reserve a site ahead of time at www.recreation.gov.

We are seeking a few volunteers to help out at the picnic. You will have the option to select any of the following volunteer opportunities when you register.

• Cook crew - Cook the burgers and brats for about 50-70 people or assist in grilling.

• Raffle crew - Sell raffle tickets, collect money, and hand out prizes.

• Table-top propane grills/griddles & tanks

• LavaBoxes & propane tanks

Our raffles include items like Watershed drybags, boating gear, throw bags, straps, and much more! Raffle tickets are $5 for five tickets and can be purchased with cash at the event.

If you are interested in volunteering with the raffle crew, you will have the option to select this when you register.
