When Heather Eastlack pressed the SOS button on a Grand Canyon trip in 2023, she discovered an important lesson. There were many things that she wished she knew before pressing that button, items such as sharing the trip participant list and the knowledge of her emergency contacts. Heather will share lessons learned that will help your emergency response go more smoothly. The presentation will focus on use of the InReach communication device; however, many of the safety preparation topics will be applicable to all river users.
Join us to learn about the critical things all people should know to prep BEFORE a trip - for the river or anywhere else. This event is open to everyone. HCRR Membership is not required.

Heather Eastlack has been a member of High Country River Rafters since 2018. As a former white-water guide on the Arkansas River, she has been rafting for over 20 years. She is trained in Swift Water Rescue and is a certified Wilderness First Responder. She has seven trips down the Grand Canyon and many other multi-day river trip experiences including: Salmon, Deso, Westwater, Ruby-Horsethief, Yampa, Lodore, Labyrinth, Chama, San Juan, etc.
