Take a kid rafting

HCRR has partnered with VIVE Wellness (a non-profit organization devoted to creating outdoor recreational opportunities for kids) to bring a unique opportunity for children from the greater Denver area to spend the weekend rafting and camping on the upper Colorado River. This is a chance to introduce many of these kids to the wonders of outdoor living and the thrill of whitewater rafting, experiences they may otherwise never have. 

We're calling on our HCRR members to volunteer their time and rafts to make this event possible. We need volunteers to guide VIVE passengers, provide support in duckies and rafts, and assist with general event tasks. Friday, August 7th

• On Friday evening, we will meet up under the pavilion near Pumphouse Recreation Area (Launch 3) to sign waivers, hold a river safety talk, orientation, and answer any questions. 

Saturday, August 8th

• On Saturday morning, we will run shuttle, break out into raft and inflatable kayak groups, and launch from Pumphouse to Radium.

HCRR has reserved camping at Pumphouse Recreation Area group site A and B for Friday and Saturday nights. Additional site are available for overflow so please contact event organizers for further details. We expect approximately 50 participants from VIVE and 12 from HCRR.

Meals: The only meal provided will be Saturday evening: VIVE traditionally provides a huge post-trip BBQ dinner for all. Breakfasts and lunches will be coordinated among the HCRR volunteers once a volunteer roster is finalized.
